How to set up regular reminders on your Wahoo Element or Garmin Edge Bike Computer
Race days are hectic. You’ve woken up early, overcome pre-race nerves, and you’re riding in a group. Often, you’re highly focused on maintaining your position in the bunch. With so much going on, it’s easy deviate from your race nutrition plan, especially in later stages of the race when you are fatigued.
During any race, you’ll likely derive most of your energy from carbohydrate-rich products. General guidelines recommend between 30 grams to as much as 90 grams per hour, depending on the length and intensity of your exercise. It’s well known that you’re better off consuming these carbs in small doses rather than one big hit. This will decrease the risk of gastrointestinal symptoms.
Use the reminder feature on Garmin and Wahoo devices to stay on top of your nutrition. Set alerts for every 20 to 30 minutes to remind yourself to eat and drink.
1. In the Element App – go to the Workout Screen
2. Connect your device
3. Click “Set custom alerts”
4. Add your custom alert text, adjust your frequency and your interval.
5. You can have multiple custom alerts, such as “Remember to eat,” “Remember to drink” or “Remember to text your wife.”
1. Turn on your device
2. Select Menu > Settings > Activity
Profiles.
3. Select a profile.
4. Select Alerts.
5. Select Eat Alert or Drink Alert.
6. Turn on the alert.
7. Enter a value.
8. Select Checkmark symbol.
