I have food allergies and intolerances. Is Roam Protein right for me?

Our protein is made from Canadian golden peas – which are completely natural and GMO-free. Roam Protein is vegan and does not contain

    - Bee products (propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen)
    - Dairy
    - Eggs
    - Gluten
    - Lupin
    - Peanuts
    - Sesame seeds
    - Soy
    - Sulphites
    - Tree nuts

Is Roam Protein safe if I am pregnant or lactating?

To support a healthy pregnancy and healthy development of your baby, it is not only safe but also recommended to increase your protein intake by incorporating various protein-rich sources, such as Roam Protein, into your diet.

Protein requirements increase as early as 16 weeks of gestation, and significantly increase during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters [1].

Daily protein requirements will depend on your body size and current level of physical activity.

We recommend that you consult with your physician to provide advice on your specific nutrition needs during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Can I gain muscle (bulk) with pea protein?

Yes, absolutely. The nutritional value of Roam Protein is similar to dairy-based proteins. Importantly, pea protein has three branched chain amino acids (BCAAs), including the BCAA leucine, which is important for building and repairing muscles.

To increase your muscle mass, consume protein at regular intervals during the day and combine your protein intake with resistance exercise or strength training. We cover more on this topic in this article.

There is evidence that a dose of about 20 grams of protein can elicit optimal stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (1). Each serving of Roam Protein contains 22 grams (Chocolate) and 23 grams of protein (Vanilla).

Can Roam Protein help me with weight loss?

Roam Protein is high in protein and low in carbohydrates and fat, making it an ideal supplement to incorporate into your daily nutrition plan. Protein can help with hunger management and maintaining even blood sugar levels. Use our calculator to determine your protein requirements based on your goals.

There's so much confusion about protein, where do I begin?

Use our calculator to determine your daily protein requirements, then track your daily intake to ensure you’re meeting your needs.

    Low FODMAP Success

I'm on my 4th bag and would strongly recommend this. I have a very sensitive tummy and have tried so many plant based/bone broth protein powders/sprouted combinations over the last 5 years, and this is the only one I haven't had issues with. Its a touch on the sweet side for me, however its still a nice taste (I've tried the vanilla/choco - definitely SC is my fav), and you can mix with milk or just have with plain water (which was great for my recent HEAPHY hike/Summer camping trips - honestly is the nicest tasting one I've had with water - most taste terrible unless you had a plant based milk which isn't convenient when not at home!). I love I'm buying local too! Thank you for creating something I can finally drink guilt & pain free! Legends!

Delicious, accessible protein replacement when I need it the most

As a distance runner, I need a protein source right after I'm done with a workout to make sure that I recover well. Roam checks all the boxes as a protein source that is readily accessible (so I don't need to rummage around trying to find something to cook or prepare), tastes really great (doesn't have that weird chalky taste) and is obviously easy on my gut! Highly recommended.

Super tasty as a shake or added to a smoothie

A great way to get that necessary protein when recovering and exercising after my hip replacement surgery and training for the Motatapu bike race.

    Protein, Shaker and Nut Butter

Great quality protein that feels good on my stomach! I have a sensitive stomach and was unable to eat during or after long, intense runs and races. This protein solved my problem. The shaker is really handy and easy to clean. And the nut butter snacks are delicious - coconut is my favourite!

Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) are just one type of fat usually found in coconut. Your regular milk and butter also contain MCTs but a smaller percentage.

MCT has numerous health benefits (namely, cardiovascular and metabolic health) and is used by athletes as a source of exercise energy. This is because MCTs are broken down and digested rapidly compared to other fat forms and provide instant energy during exercise.

We add a small amount of MCT to Roam Protein because of the health benefits it can bring but also because it makes the texture of our protein smoother and creamier.

Whey is made from animal protein and pea protein is plant-based. Both types of protein have their own benefits and drawbacks.

Whey protein is a complete protein, meaning it contains all the essential amino acids your body needs. It's also easily absorbed by the body and has a high biological value, which means it's efficient at repairing and building muscle tissue. However, whey protein can be hard to digest for some people, and it's not suitable for those who are lactose-intolerant or vegan.

Vegan protein powders are made from plants, such as peas, rice or hemp. Pea protein is a particularly good source of vegan protein as it's highly absorbable and easy to digest. It's also low in fat and calories and is rich in iron and other minerals.

Pea protein is not a complete protein, because it only has a small amount of the essential amino acid, methionine. But this shouldn’t be an issue if you are consuming a well balanced diet that includes a variety of plant-based proteins throughout the day.

Overall, pea protein has a better essential amino acid make-up compared with other plant-based proteins. It is a great option for vegans, vegetarians, or those who are looking for an alternative to whey protein.

Pea protein is also environmentally friendly, as it requires less water and land to produce than whey protein. For those looking for a healthy and sustainable protein powder, pea protein is a great option.
